I have lived in the UK since, 1980. My mother tongue is Hindi, and I'm also proficient in German -

Since 2004, I have lived and worked in Scotland.
Before becoming a freelancer, I was an English teacher for 21 years. I taught English as an Additional Language (EAL) to pupils whose first language was not English.
I'm a Chartered linguist and a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, which promotes international goodwill by encouraging the effective study and practice of languages. It upholds the highest standards and aims to enhance the recognition and promote the value of languages.
I'm also an Entry Level Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, which promotes excellence in English language editing.

Volunteering I have volunteered in various roles for different organisations in the UK, including a Web Officer for UCGAL (University Council for General and Applied Linguistics), a volunteer Buddy for The British Red Cross, a volunteer Library Assistant and a volunteer teacher for Scottish Borders Council.
I currently volunteer as an E-mentor for the University of Nottingham, as well as a volunteer translator for Translators Without Borders.
